Berkeley Jr. Bears was founded in June 2008 and provides Youth Football programs to approximately 200 children within Bay Area communities in Northern California. The organization is entering its 8th season and is excited to continue its mission. The primary goal is to provide inclusive and affordable access to youth programs that offer children ages 5-14 a safe and positive environment to participate in organized sports. Participants learn transferable life skills such as personal responsibility, discipline, time management, teamwork and leadership. They also develop personal character, a healthy body and self esteem, and learn the importance of scholastic achievement.
Berkeley Jr. Bears is a non-profit organization and association within the American Youth Football League. Berkeley Jr. Bears' youth programs allow young people to obtain essential mentorship, gain valuable exposure, and engage in team play. Children are challenged to develop the skills and work ethic required to compete both on and off the field, as well as focus on academics. These experiences facilitate pathways for success for youth within our communities.
